On a steep site in Dripping Springs, sits the Heritage House. Simple and restrained, the uncomplicated architecture draws inspiration from the traditional buildings of the area, but brings the home into the modern day. The site’s soils are solid limestone and difficult to excavate. This made it crucial to find the best elevation to build at. The design evolved to feature the board-formed concrete foundation as a textural statement wall. The home prioritizes natural materials and colors, utilizing integral color stucco and terracotta throughout. The 2500 SF house is arranged around intentionally framed views, with the L-shaped plan engaging a central pool courtyard. Abundant natural light permeates the spaces through these large, framed openings and several strategically placed skylights. With a thoughtful nod to the past, and emphasis on celebrating the local landscape, the Heritage House is at home in the Texas hill country.
